Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Officer to join our team. The MEL Officer will play a key role in ensuring effective monitoring and evaluation of our programs, as well as facilitating continuous learning and improvement initiatives within the organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in monitoring and evaluation methodologies, data analysis, and project management.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks for all programs and projects in alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  2. Design and implement data collection tools, surveys, and methodologies to gather relevant quantitative and qualitative data for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
  3. Lead data collection efforts, including conducting field visits, interviews, focus group discussions, and other data collection activities as needed.
  4. Analyze collected data to assess program effectiveness, identify areas for improvement, and inform decision-making processes.
  5. Prepare comprehensive monitoring and evaluation reports, including findings, conclusions, and recommendations for program improvement.
  6. Collaborate with program managers and other stakeholders to ensure that monitoring and evaluation activities are integrated into program planning and implementation processes.
  7. Facilitate learning and knowledge-sharing sessions within the organization to promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  8. Provide training and capacity-building support to staff members and partners on monitoring, evaluation, and learning best practices.
  9. Stay informed about emerging trends, methodologies, and technologies related to monitoring and evaluation in the nonprofit sector.
  10. Contribute to the development of proposals, grant applications, and reports by providing relevant monitoring and evaluation data and insights.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in a relevant field such as international development, social sciences, statistics, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in monitoring and evaluation, preferably in the nonprofit or international development sector.
  • Strong knowledge of monitoring and evaluation methodologies, including logical frameworks, theory of change, and performance indicators.
  • Proficiency in data collection and analysis techniques, including qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Experience with data management and visualization tools/software (e.g., Excel, SPSS, Stata, Tableau).
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Commitment to promoting a culture of learning, accountability, and transparency within the organization.
